We understand that reaching out for help is not easy. Most families never expect to be in this situation, and no one wants to make this call. Please know that you will be treated with respect, and our team is here to support you without judgment. At Just Neighbors, we strive to provide a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment where families can find stability and begin their next steps forward.
Family Shelter Program
Just Neighbors provides emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness in Fort Wayne. Our shelter includes 10 rooms, with 8 private family bedrooms for our 45-day program and 2 rooms designated for immediate, overnight stays.
To qualify for services, you must be pregnant or have a minor child under the age of 18 in your care.
If your family is in need of shelter, please call us at 260-458-9772. A staff member will complete a brief phone assessment to determine eligibility. If your family qualifies, you may call each day between 1:00β3:00 PM to check availability and reserve space in our overnight program. Families may transition into our 45-day program as rooms become available.
Our facility includes ADA-accessible bedrooms and bathrooms to ensure all families can be served with dignity.
While in the program, families work with a Case Manager to connect with community resources, develop a plan, and move toward stable housing. Children enrolled in Fort Wayne Community Schools can remain in their school of origin through the McKinney-Vento program, with transportation arranged as needed.
Dinner is provided six nights a week through the support of our faith community partners.
To help maintain a safe and stable environment for all families, especially children, Just Neighbors completes background checks and drug screenings as part of the intake process.
